The Southwest Vermont Curriculum Coordinators Collaborative supports teacher participation in The Teaching American History Project. This three year program to delevop teacher leaders is funded by a federal grant secured by the Addison-Rutland Supervisory Union and Castleton State College.
http://www.tahvt.org/ This three-year project supported by a US Dept of Education Teaching American History grant brings together teachers from elementary, secondary, middle and college levels and curriculum developers with an Advisory Board public historians and public school administrators to deepen the participants' knowledge and appreciation of American history. Following the guidelines of the Bradley Commission on History and the National Council for History Education (NCHE), this project will work to enhance American history content in our schools through focused professional development workshops, book discussions, books for the classroom, seminars, outreach programs and financial support to attend local professional conferences.
